The critical era of writing - September 2005 This essay is the first part of a project
aiming to establish a «reflexive convergence» between positive sciences
and sciences of Mind, during which phenomenology must occupy an
increasingly central place. Animated by the assumption of a crisis of the
writing at the XXe century, it carries out incursions into contemporary
physics, cognitive science and post-husserlian phenomenology to
isolate the common symptoms: an unbalance between the referential aiming
and the invasive discursive practices. The awakening of a crisis of the writing is
related to philosophical events like Writing and Difference (Derrida)
and Difference and Repetition (Deleuze) ; scientific like the
interpretation of the value of time in the theory of relativity and the
probabilistic interpretation of quantum mechanics, the theory of the
computational mind in cognitive science ;
artistic like the works of Carroll, Roussel, Borges or Warhol, mediatical like
the advent of technological forms of the boarding of the mind :
marketing and Internet. But it is not only one crisis of symbolisms (philosophical,
scientific, artistic) but a major event of the cultural evolution which
is the increasing consciousness of the autonomy of the mind with
regard to the material supports of transmission and,
of second degree, with regard to the cultural
threatening products via the radical questioning. Thus, my objective is
not to condemn it but to exploit it like a method of reading which can
join together heterogeneous fields of knowledge in what Deleuze calls the
system of Chaoïdes.
